Dr. Oz is amazing!!!

I don't know if any of you out there watch the Dr. Oz show, but he is the reason our DVR only has 13% of it's recording space left!  It is truly the BEST SHOW! I highly recommend it! My problem with the recording space is that I tape it, watch it, love it, then think every episode is so great that I want to keep it! So now I have oh, six to eight pages of DVR'ed Dr. Oz shows that I cannot part with! I think hubs will be forcing the issue soon, though...

This morning, my 10:30 appointment cancelled so I got to watch a little of my favorite doctor LIVE! It was GREAT!  He talked about his Ten Commandments for weight loss.  The few that stuck with me are:

1. Stop grazing...bites of other people's food...(ewww), a cookie here or there, a few potato chips when you walk in the door starving...he said grazing can add up to 1000 calories per day. Makes sense!

2. Do not carry small bills around in your wallet. This can help curb your craving for something out of the vending machine on a whim.  He said it's safer to carry around a $20.00 bill. Makes sense, except for my "vending machine" is McDonald's drive-thru and they don't care if iyou give them ones, twenties, or even the magic plastic card!

3. He asked one viewer how many times she opens the refrigeator and stands there "foraging" for food.  She said about 5-7 times per day. (Yep-that's about what I would have said)  He told he to STOP...he told her she is mindlessly eating by doing that and he wanted her to picture her plate in her head before she opened the fridge. Okay...I'll try it!

There were 7 other good commandments that I'm sure are listed on his website.  Give the show a try if you can.  I always feel connected to what he's talking about for that day.  He covers about 5-7 different topics during each show and he does it in a very interesting, easy-to-remember way! He's very real and very honest.

Okay, doc...good advice...I'll give it a try! Can't wait to watch the rest of your show today when I get home! And hubs...if you are reading this, I promise I'll delete it............................................someday!

There goes the ball......

Well, I've really done it! I have completely DROPPED the ball and it's rolling down the street! If any of you see it go by, will you please kick it back to me? UUGGHH!

Again...I am here to be totally HONEST and by blogging my thoughts out I am hoping to motivate myself to get back into the swing of things!

I AM LAZY. I AM NOT A MULTI-TASKER. I DO NOT LIKE HARD WORK UNLESS I AM GETTING PAID TO DO IT! MONEY MOTIVATES ME. I LIKE TO EAT. I LIKE TO WATCH TV. I AM VERY PRODUCTIVE IN THE MORNING BUT VERY UNPRODUCTIVE AT NIGHT. ANY HOUSEWORK OR EXCERCISE THAT HAPPENS ON MY PART HAPPENS IN THE MORNING. AND IT HASN'T BEEN HAPPENING LATELY.

I can STILL do this....time has not slipped away from me yet.  It will get harder, though, the longer I wait to seriously attack it. I try to think back to the mindset I had when I was so successful at Weight Watchers in 2003. I just remember thinking, "This is so easy...why can't everyone do it?" I lost 31lbs in 10 weeks. It was amazing. I want that mindset back. I keep trying to remember things I said...what I felt. I remember constantly talking about it at work.  Oh, boy, my coworkers must have loved that! I do remember being hungry and saying that alot.  Hubs kept saying, "You can do it...!" He was very supportive and still is. But he doesn't hound me.  Sometimes I wish he would hound me. And he needs to find a better hiding place for his chocolate.  Although, maybe he has because I certainly couldn't find any last night when I looked! :)

I do remember that it was Spring when I lost the weight that year.  Even though it was Florida, there was still a sense of the changing of the seasons. Now that Spring may have finally sprung here, maybe that will be a good motivator. And I think next week is daylight savings time. Isn't that just enough to perk everyone up? This wonderful season means Marty Brenneman's voice will be on the radio calling the Reds games from Spring Training in Arizona, tulips will be poking through the ground to say hello, people will be opening windows to let the fresh air flow through their homes, kids will be outside playing and riding their bikes, and the stores will be filled with flip flops, shorts, and bathing suits.

If I can't use these wonderful things as a reason to GET MOTIVATED, then I think I am DOOMED.  This is a chance to really change and to take the good habits I have mastered this past month and use them as buliding blocks to a more healthy lifestyle and hopefully some weight loss and a better body.

Thanks for reading and listening.  Just getting these words down on paper might just be what I need....Oh...there's the ball...let me just pick that back up...
